Curricula

The School of the Seven Sages is a hybrid home school program. Students spend 2.5 days per week at school where they study a classical curriculum under the guidance of licensed teachers serving as tutors. The balance of the week is spent at home learning under their parents' guidance. Parents are the ultimate teaching authority and can adjust the curriculum as they see fit. However, the school provides a recommended curriculum for each subject so parents can easily teach their children. Teachers ensure that there are clear indications where the student finished each subject at school.  This creates a seamless transition from learning at school to learning at home. Parents simply follow the curriculum and lesson plans while working as a team with the school.

Once your child is enrolled, you will receive a complete list of all curriculum materials. The School of the Seven Sages utilizes many elite curricula including Singapore Math, Henle Latin, The Story of the World, Zane-Bloser Handwriting Series, and many others. The school specifies which curriculum to use for each subject, but allows some flexibility to meet family requirements.  The school even provides parents with an extensive list of supplemental material to explore for further study. However, the school does NOT supply specific curriculum materials and you are required to purchase them at your own expense. If you need assistance sourcing the material, help finding the correct editions, or if you have questions about supplemental curriculum supplies (workbooks, flash cards, CDs, etc.) please don't hesitate to contact us.

Note that the School of the Seven Sages follows a 39 week school year which is longer than the typical 36 week public school year. This saves parents the hassle of finding summer camps at additional cost. As most parents realize, change, particularly with schedule, is difficult for children to handle and usually leads to tumultuous times. The longer school year, therefore, also nurtures the child more by extending the time in which they are in a set schedule. Of course, the longer schedule also leads to more time spent learning.

Below are daily schedules which will be followed at school and daily schedules we recommend for the home school days. The schedules below are subject to change; please verify them with your child's teacher periodically.
