Electives

Electives should be something structured that the child enjoys. The purpose of an elective is to provide specialized instruction to further broaden the child’s development. They may be held on school grounds (with school approval), or not. Electives are owned and operated by independent vendors and are NOT included in tuition. The school is very flexible on what counts as an elective, but it must be a structured program.  In order to comply with state regulations, it is recommended that some of the electives be applicable to "gym" time.  The program name, location, and program director's contact information must be submitted to the School of the Seven Sages.  If you are unsure if a certain activity would qualify as an elective, please ask the headmaster prior to registering for that activity.

Requirements

  • Kindergarten - 4th grade students are required to take a minimum of 3 hours per week of electives, and these 3 hours must be comprised of both an athletic and a musical activity.  Activities listed as "supplemental" on this website do NOT count as an elective for the K-4 student when attendance is compulsory.  However, if the student wishes to engage in these activities for additional time on or off school grounds, that additional time would count as an elective.

  • Fifth grade - 8th grade students are required to take a minimum of 7 hours of electives per week comprised of at least 3 different activities.

  • Ninth grade - 12 grade students are required to take a minimum of 5 hours of electives per week comprised of at least 2 different activities.
